Beach Rental Home

Facility:
4 bedroom ocean-view home. Home is primarily used for weekly rentals. Occupancy is typically very high. Winter holiday occupancy is also very high. This was the first AdvanTex® system installed in Coastal Carolina.
Site Problem:
The site is a “second row” site and has limited area available. The site has a pool, 1 parking space per bedroom, a canal on the front property line, among other site limitations. The soil is sandy, but depth to seasonal high water table is an issue.
Resolution:
Joe Anlauf, P.E. with Quible Engineering contacted AQWA in early 2003 to have AdvanTex® installed on a small lot. The system was permitted as a TS-I Treatment System by the Dare County Health Department. The system was installed by Johnson Construction of Wanchese, N.C.
Equipment:
- 1,000 gallon top seam septic tank
- Single AdvanTex® AX-20 System
- One 1,000 gallon top seam re-circulation tank
- UV unit (Single Bulb)
- 1,000 gallon pump tank
- 360 square foot bed. LPP distribution lines 3’ on center
- VeriComm® telemetry control panel controls both re-circ and discharge pumps. It is connected to the home phone line.
Results:
This system has been in use for three summers. The system has the highest real flow to design flow ratio of any AdvanTex® in NC. Although permitted as a 4 BR home, flows in excess of 1000 GPD have been recorded on the VeriComm® panel. In spite of this, the system has worked extremely well as shown below.
